  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • I enjoyed every day of my internship and I felt welcome and calued.

    • The community at Metaswitch is amazing. I could always ask for help from my supervisor/manager and everyone was friendly.

    • I could ask questions at any time in my internship, and they helped immediately.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • There aren't set hours you have to work, sometimes I came in at 8.30, sometimes at 11am, and left when I got enough work done. I could always take short breaks whenever necessary, which was great.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • My project was special in the fact that it was just me working on something particular, so I pretty much in control, apart from the overall guidance from my manager and supervisor of how to structure my program.

    • Programming is extremely important in almost any job.

    • Absolutely amazing.

    • It was well structured.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • I became much better at programming at Python specifically and applying Object Oriented principles in my code. My supervisor in particular helped me a lot in this.

    • Got offered another internship.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • Very good, I met up outside of work with other interns almost every other day. Every Friday the interns went on a pub lunch which was nice.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • Metaswitch offered a shared house for £11 a day. Other costs are normal.

    • There aren't any clubs in Enfield, which is where I had my internship.

    • Yes, different sports at the nearby park almost every day.
