The Role
The culture at Lloyds is fantastic. Incredibly inclusive and diverse. I was working with experts in different fields every day and had the freedom to explore whatever I found interesting.
It was clear from my first day that I would be working in a tightknit team. Each individual team member made an effort to bond with me and to make me feel as welcome and integrated as possible.
People always made time for me and my managers always made sure I was happy in what I was doing. I felt free to voice questions and concerns I had. I felt supported by the team each and every day.
Once up to speed and more knowledgeable, I had a good pace of work coming my way that took effort to manage diligently but once I had fixed these workflow issues I was able to stay on top of my work whilst making a meaningful contribution to the team.
Due to the nature and timing of my placement, i.e. with colleagues leaving towards the beginning for holidays, I took it on myself to absorb as much responsibility as possible and from there colleagues could see I was competent and grew confident in giving me more and more responsibility.
The main takeaway skill I have developed is managing a much larger workflow and being able to manage expectations accordingly. This certainly will put me in good stead as I enter my final year of university.
The Company
Friendly, collaborative and fast-paced.
Really well designed so as to encourage growth and development whilst being given the opportunity to complete meaningful tasks and contribute to the team.
It was clear that Lloyds are keen to get the most out of the interns so that both the organisation and the intern could benefit from the experience. Training sessions were arranged and a lot of time was spent with other colleagues learning from them.
Very desirable and competitive.
The Culture
Yes, we all connected and socialised really easily.
Lloyds provided accommodation but otherwise London is typically expensive.
London is always fantastic for nightlife.
Yes, there were lots of evenings events arranged with colleagues, e.g. quiz nights and sports events.
