The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed the internship. I'm sad to be leaving!
Everyone in my team was welcoming and willing to take time out to show me how things worked or explain things to me. They included me in all of their social events, and I always looked forward to coming into the office to spend time with them
Management were fantastic. Guided me through the whole process with regular 1 to 1 meetings to discuss my progress.
I was very busy, but found that sometimes I had to find things to do myself.
I was given a lot of responsibility but often asked to take on responsibility myself to which my line manager and team members were very supportive of.
It was great for me to learn about how to apply concepts I've learnt at uni to the real world.
The Company
Everyone was great fun to be around, with lots of energy and a great working attitude.
The internship was well organised although as it was only a 10 week placement, my line manager found it difficult at first to work out what I would be doing over the duration of my placement. However, after working this out, the rest of the placement was well structured.
Lloyds had e-learning courses that could be completed in your own time. They supported completing the Professional Bankers Course, as well as mandatory training. They also offered a series of webinars to support development. They were somewhat tedious at times but there were some useful things to draw from the session.
I would love to work for Lloyds in the future. Their culture is one I'd like to work within and I hope to be offered a job on the graduate scheme.
The Culture
Yes. We all spent a lot of time together as we lived together. We also completed a charity challenge together.
Lloyds paid for the accommodation as the placement was not in my preferred location. The area was cheap enough, as I was used to London prices.
I didn't go out but heard there were some nice clubs.
