The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I have met so many people across the bank, both within and outside BIA in such a short space of time. Every day is extremely different to the previous and this variety has meant that my 9-week internship has given me a really great insight into the breadth of working in internal audit.
I have definitely felt appreciated by my colleagues. They have included me in every meeting and always ask me to share my opinion and voice my concerns. My colleagues have also made sure to always spend extra time with me going over pieces of work I have done and providing feedback.
My line manager is extremely supportive and spends a lot of time with me. We have regular debriefs after important meetings where I can ask any outstanding questions I have and we also chat about my progress. He gives me detailed feedback and always makes me feel valued.
At the start of the internship, I had lots of IT issues and therefore there was only a limited amount of work I could get involved in. However, once these were sorted out, my workload really picked up. I also involved myself with lots of non-audit work, so I was definitely kept busy!
I was given a significant amount of responsibility- I was trusted to email stakeholders, lead meetings, update important audit planning documents and use my professional judgement to select samples. I was given help wherever I needed it, but allowed to work independently where I felt confident.
I have developed so many skills that will be relevant in my degree and future career. For instance, I have done a number of presentations, and feel my confidence levels have really increased. My organisational skills have also hugely improved in that i have been responsible for managing my own workload each day.
The Company
Very friendly and inclusive.

Really good. Lots of opportunities to progress.
The Culture
We went for drinks every week and often went out for lunch.
Expensive but manageable.
Didn't get involved with the nightlife.
