The Role
Very good to work here. Well structured internship.
The Barclays values include being valued for what you do, if you do your job well, you will be valued - otherwise, you would get support to achieve your goals.
Every support necessary is there/
Quite busy. The internship includes setting up your own appointments and getting used to doing this.
I will leave a lasting impact, very rewarding feeling.
As I study economics, the content was very relevant to my academic development.
The Company
The general atmosphere in the office was absolutely amazing. People are happy, driven, and ready to support you in every possible way. Very empowering atmosphere, easy to work in, easy to get used to. I could only recommend implementing a similar kind of atmosphere to other employers. The Barclays Way and Values are clearly represented.
The internship was extremely well organised, a very well structured program. HR did a very good job in organizing and internship, so that we make the most out of our time at the firm. Good organisation includes that we had time to schedule our own appointments, so it indeed felt like real world work.
The company seemed to invest in us fairly much. Regular speaker events, training, and time off all prove that our personal and professional development is a priority to Barclays, and that the firm is ready to invest in us to achieve our ambitions. Very rewarding feeling, and it encourages employees to stay with the organisation.

Reverberating off of the previous point, as the company invests in us, their goal is to keep us with them so that this investment pays off. In turn, career prospects from an employee point of view are great. The high conversion rate reflects that the initial internship application and screening process is hard and competitive, but once you perform well in the company, they want to retain you.
The Culture
The social scene among other interns was great. We had weekly events organised by ourselves and on top of this, HR organised various talks with smaller groups. I got to know many people and these connections will surely outlast my time and the firm and indeed this internship at Baclays this summer.
This question seems relative to me. Most well paid and well respected jobs are in London, and either in the City or in Canary Wharf. Now, either of these is really expensive. Nevertheless, the compensation covers it. Although I find that London is expensive in general, this is something we need to accept.
The Canary Wharf night scene, the place where the internship is located, was very good. Most days, the place is buzzing and grabbing a drink is never an issue. On Thursdays and Friday, however, the night life is at its peak as people finish work. Very pleasant experience within this corporate bubble.
Getting involved outside of work was always easy and there were plenty of opportunities. The range of events involved sports such as football, basketball, beach volleyball and many more. On the other hand, charity events were organised where we could actually contribute to real world issues. Very well structured and plenty of things to choose from.
