    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I learnt a lot during this internship and acquired valuable technical knowledge as well as general competencies. I also got to know more about Barclay's inclusive culture.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt highly valued by my colleagues. First my buddy has been helpful and present during my whole internship. also, my line manager wanted me to really know what an analyst do as a job on a daily basis so he made me work on projects right from the start and above all he wanted me to be self-reliant. At the end of my internship, I also attended a credit committee.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The HR team has been helpful and very supportive, as well as my buddy and all the other team members.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • After the first week, I began working on projects and as some analysts went on holidays, I started doing their job, which gave me a great exposure to the Leveraged Finance work right from the start. So I would report directly to VPs or MDs in projects. also, I attended clients calls and internal meetings.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The responsibility I was given increased throughout the weeks and at the end of my internship, I could work on a refinancing pitch in an independent way.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The training that I received was not very helpful because it was M&A oriented rather than Leveraged finance. However, I learnt by doing the job and all my colleagues have been open to my questions and highly helpful. So I learnt a lot.
