The Role
I really enjoyed my internship: 8 weeks were the right amount of time to gain real insight into the business and I leave feeling as though I would know what a permanent position would be like. The HR team and business units put a lot of effort into making sure that we had a good time.
My colleagues really welcomed me onto the team and I felt very valued by them. They took time out of their day to explain what they were currently working on, answering any questions I may have had and arranging activities for me to do. It was a great team dynamic and I would love to go back.
I was very busy on a daily basis and never felt as though I did not know what to do. There were clear tasks and clear timelines to follow, but I had a lot of chances to practice my time management skills. There was also a lot of flexibility and I could always let my manager know if I was having any problems with anything.
As I was spending a lot of time with many different people, I could not be given a lot of responsibility. This is the nature of the department I was in and I never felt unvalued or excluded because of this. I mostly did very general work, such as market research, or very specific admin work ad hoc.
Working in this industry means there is not much relevance for my degree but it was interesting nonetheless.
The Company
Strong teamwork, very helpful. Quite hardworking and stressful at quarter end. Calm in August
We were told that our entire graduate program will cease to exist the way we know it on our second last day. Unbelievably disappointing and unfair. The rest of the internship was well organised.
Very highly
