About You
I enjoyed my time, due to a great team who made me feel welcome and also showed great willingness to teach me in depth some of the areas of their industry.
There were times when I could see the work I was doing was being used in meetings, or for clients and therefore I felt as if I was really part of the team and not just an intern filling in admin work.
By having a graduate mentor, it helped me settle in very quickly. Having a younger mentor made me able to ask questions that I need and may not necessarily been able to ask a more senior member of the team. However, even after I settled everyone on the team was really approachable and had no problem in helping me out with work or even advice for when I will be applying for graduate roles.
I will be able to apply information I've learned (such as s106 agreements) and apply them to projects in the future for my final year at uni. Furthermore, it has assisted with my general understanding and also aided my commercial awareness.
The Company
Extremely well organised. In particular, myself and also when speaking to other interns it was great to have talks from several different departments which aided our understanding of the company and the industry. Also, really enjoyed social events put on for the interns and also city walks. Furthermore, it was great to have the opportunity to speak with directors at the lunch in the final week.
The general atmosphere was professional but a healthy and relaxed working environment.
Aided research skill when collecting comparable data. Developed phone communications to help me extract as much information as possible. Helped my report writing skills.
Gave me plenty of insight into what a full time role would be like in terms of work load, timings etc. Would have liked to have sat into a few more meetings with clients to understand how to treat clients and how to act in certain situations.
The company's culture really shone through when noticing the great relationship people have with each other in the building.
Firmly has implemented that a career as a Surveyor is for me.
Everything Else
Paid adequately
Plenty, meeting directors at the lunch. Also company culture also enabled me to meet other members of the firm on socials.
Great. Plenty of opportunities.
Not so much.
