The Role
Still at the beginning of the Placement - A tricky one for someone new into the bank, especially being put into a fairly turbulent atmospghere in Ulster. Having said that there is lots of opportunity to make a psotive impact.
The team I am managing is difficult to win around, especially when I'm making changes to the way they are working, which is to be expected since they have had high amanger turnover in the last 3 years. Other managers and those above me have been fantastic though.
Lots of support for making changes, some are difficult to get answers from but that is due to the changing nature of the division at the moment. Socially they have been very supportive - as I have been moved to belfast for the duration away from any other Grads/friends.
There is an element of "there is as much work as you create for yourslef" at the moment but im sure that will increase once people get to tknow who I am/what i can do etc.
Lots of responsibilty to run/change the team as I liked, but with safety net of an involved Operations manager above me.

The Company
Failry quiet office as most are much older than I am, however im lookign to get involved in younger divisions nearby - too early to tell.
Expected a high level of confidence/experience from myself, mainly becuase the last grad who was here was on his 3rd placement rather than his first.
Centralised from the grad scheme and away from where I am currently working, investment has been good.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I'm continuing on placements for the next 2 years. good progression opportunities.
The Culture
No fellow grads/placement students in the Office - as all other grad on the Scheme are on the Mainland. Still exploring social aspects in differnt parts of the office.
Belfast is very cheap for housing and in general.
Good amaount of Bars/clubs for a relatively small city.
Going to the Bank formal. Nothing else set up - its very much on myself to go out and make social connections.
