The Role
I really enjoyed the variety of work during my internship. Being based in the private banking team meant I got to experience a wide range of cases whilst allowing me to get involved in the wealth management and investments team. Favourite bit of work was the project I was assigned to do that all of the interns receive as part of our assessment.
My team have been very supportive. I work in a team of 30 and I have been very welcomed. For my project I have had meetings with a lot of people outside of my team and they have also been very giving of their time. One of the best things about Coutts is, how many the bank is and therefore there is a great culture.
At Coutts all of the interns have a line-manager each and we all share a HR coordinator. My line-manager has been very supportive while I have been here which is useful when you are constantly asking questions. She has also been great at guiding me through the internship to help me maximise my time here. Our HR coordinator also offers us great support and guidance despite us having much less interaction with her.
I have been very busy on the whole but we work sociable hours on the whole. There is always something to do so if you don't have anything on your desk you can always help others out. Hours are really good. My manager doesn't expect me to do anymore that 8:30-5
I have been given a good amount of responsibility and always had the support there if I ever felt I needed it. My project has been the task that I have had the most responsibility for.
I have definitely developed over my time here. I have developed both skills applicable for any job such as time management, team work and client service as well as industry specific skills such as advisory and strategy. The training I received was good for the 10 week period but if I come back as a grad we will receive a much more extensive training which will be very useful.
The Company
The general atmosphere was very friendly and enjoyable. Office space is really nice too.
The internship was nicely structured but offered the opportunity for us to be able to get involved in things we were particularly interested in.
Coutts invest quite a lot into us considering how short the role is. I know if I come back as a grad too they further develop in us, including accreditation opportunities.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
The internship and graduate programme is growing at Coutts with more offers being put out year on year.
The Culture
Very good social scene. I went to several social events with my team and grads over my time at Coutts.
Reasonably expensive but it is London after-all.
Pub life and eating options around work is very good.
Coutts has a wide range of extra-curricular societies to get involved in and we are encouraged to as well.
