The Role
Really enjoyed the internship, 6 weeks went extremely quickly.
Colleagues were always friendly and highly approachable if there were any problems.
Managers were interested in personal development from day one, and provided regular feedback.
Always had plenty to do so never had to just sit around, but was not overwhelmed by the amount of work.
Given responsibility from the start to complete own work within a team, but there was always support available.
Learnt skills that are going to be fundamental in any professional services job, and also was a great experience of what to expect from working with people in an accounting environment. Also went on a presentation skills course which helped develop confidence greatly.
The Company
There was a good atmosphere within the office, with everyone getting on well.
I had a fully planned out schedule ready for when I started, including where I would be and with who. When working away from the office, travel and accommodation was all organised and paid for by the company.
A personal development plan was agreed with my line manager from day one, and training was offered straight away too. My progress was regularly reviewed to ensure I was on track and getting what I wanted from the internship.
I was able to convert my internship into a graduate position with the company.
The Culture
Whole office social events were organised for us.
As I lived at home, this dramatically reduced the living costs.
For a smaller city, there is a varied nightlife most days of the week, and a good amount of clubs and bars.
There were opportunities to get involved in volunteering days etc.
