The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed my internship at UBS - a lot of skills have been taken away to apply in the future but the culture at UBS also makes it a fantastic place to work. Everyone is treated very well and everyone is approachable and always willing to help whenever needed.
I felt strongly valued by my colleagues - I felt like someone who has been on their team for a long time; they made me feel very welcomed but also valued my input.
My supervisors were extremely approachable and very helpful - they provided guidance whenever needed.
A good balance of tasks are given - there were some days when there was little work to be done but overall, a very good balance of work is set. Tasks are set appropriately to your abilities and someone is always around to help.
A good amount of responsibility was given - I felt like I had control of the direction of the tasks I was assigned.
Lots of appropriate training was given and the speakers brought emphasised that training by providing real-life examples.
The Company
Everyone is friendly and easy to approach. Excellent atmosphere within an open office environment which allows easy interaction with other colleagues.
The internship was well organised. Pertinent events were set up for interns and the work allocation was a good balance too.
The first week of the internship is training and it's evident that UBS invests a lot in ensuring we get the appropriate training. The training is relevant and provides a good kickstart into the Financial Services industry. In terms of personal development, UBS has a vast range tailor made training course that can be completed by anyone at any time - this really provides unlimited development in a sense.
UBS have left a fantastic impression on me and future employment prospects are excellent.
The Culture
Varied social scene between other interns but good balance of teamwork and collaboration. There is a good balance of people across the teams.
As UBS is placed in the centre of London, the living cost is fairly high.
As UBS is placed in the centre of London, the nightlife is excellent and there's always something to do in London.
There were some opportunities (e.g. volunteering) that we could get involved in but also team and corporate events that were organised well.
