The Role
It was certainly a 'work hard, play hard' mentality. You were expected to be in at 7am promptly and would none-stop throughout the day under pressure. This strongly appealed to me as I was prepared for it and knew it was necessary to fully add value and learn throught my experience.
Different desks had different expectations of you and uses. One of my desks treated me like another member of the family whereas another treated as though I was the junior team member they had to speak to.
If you wanted feedback, you had to go and ask for it. If you were terrible some desks would tell you, some wouldn't. Up to you to find out and improve.
Incredibly busy constantly.
Given the nature of the industry I was in, there was little to no responsibility that could hoenstly be given to me.
The true meaning of working hard, professionalism, how to navigate your way around the dichotonomy of the workplace will be invaluable.
The Company
Depending on the economy and the pressure/imminent news it would chagne on an hourly basis.
Well set up.
1 week of training at the beginning where we were given basic training, however after this time it was very much onus on you to learn and seek help.
Not specific to the firm, but very difficult indeed,
The Culture
Mixed groups of people pursuing interests, a lot of clubbing of course, but also more relaxed groups too. Football on Saturday's was great!
Mixed, it could be expensive, you just had to be a little careful with your money/where you went for lunch.
Not too often given working hours, but average.
Most outside work activities were organised between interns, almost nothing by the bank.
