The Role
Really enjoyed, good company to work for, great office (London). Great opportunity for a full time grad role if you perform well
All my colleagues were very friendly, easy to talk to, welcoming
Manager was very helpful and friendly, even when busy he would always go out of his way to help and assist me. Good guidance in terms of career, continuance to graduate scheme etc
It depends a lot on what team you work for. Some will busy non stop, some will be quieter. In my team it really depended on how much needed doing that day in terms of what I was able to help with. No one expects you to be an expert when you are an intern. If you are lucky enough to not be so busy there are lots of other opportunities to gain exposure to other desks or learn about different areas/functions of the bank
I was given as much responsibility as possible, I was trusted to work and sometimes there is time pressure but as I said no one expects or requires you to be an expert when you are an intern
I did Economics with a lot of finance modules which definitely helped, although others didn't. Apart from that probably not very relevant
The Company
The atmosphere in my office was really good. Everyone is very friendly and approachable even when they are very senior. You will get exposure to lots of different teams and members of staff. Depends on what team you get put on
Good, lots of informative sessions and networking events. could be a bit better in terms of plan/structure for new interns over the course of their stay
The company definitely value you being there and its is essentially a ten week interview for the graduate scheme. So if you enjoy it and perform well enough they look to hire you permanently. Graduate roles at Nomura are primary through interns/IPs and spots left, if any, go to new grad applicants
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I have been offered a graduate role which I will start straight away. Good company to work for in terms of working environment and career prospects
The Culture
As I already lived in London I didn't get involved as much in the social side with other interns as I could have but there is definitely a lot going on. The company organise a lot of drinks as well. There is rooftop terrace bar on the 6th floor and The City is always very busy especially on a Thursday.
Lived at home in London so ideal for me, London is obviously expensive as expected. If you are looking to rent it will cost but you will still have money left over
London speaks for itself
Lots of charity work and social events, sports clubs etc
