    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I did not rotate in any of my highest choice preferences, however found the work still to be interesting and was applicable to the degree that I did. There is a lot of time free to go visit other teams to assess what you want to do in the long term.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • You do both work to allow you to learn but also to aid the team which means that you are relied upon to complete challenging and interesting tasks that help the team.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • This is dependent on the task and desk but generally if you have any questions someone will be willing to help.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It really varied but the days would not go by slowly.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Being in front office you cannot be given too much responsibility but this is to be expected.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have finished my degree but they would not have helped me. However I did call upon techniques I learned at university to aid my Citi work. In terms of my own career development they will help a lot as I now have a strong base knowledge to build on.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It is a lively and exciting place to be. Your colleagues are a lot more friendly and approachable than you see in movies and what gets written in the press.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I could not say anything bad about the Citi HR team. From securing the internship 10 months before starting to the final day of the internship they were always there to assist willingly. There is also a lot of initiative shown that meant this internship was much better than any I have had before and also many other internships my friends have experienced.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had a whole training week put on to understand the different asset classes, how to use Bloomberg and general personal skills training sessions. Again this is better than other places and I felt I actually learned a lot from it unlike other types of training.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would take a job at Citi without a second thought and generally there is a high conversion rate from internship to graduate scheme.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, lots was done to introduce my fellow interns long before the internship started.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • In London this is expensive however when considering the salary you receive you are never going to struggle.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London has everything you could possibly want.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not really but you can always make plans with interns (which we did weekly).

    4/5
