The Role
- I have done two placements now and by far this placement was the most well thought and designed for IT students.
- I felt really valued, my Manager was overseas but I still had a great support network in the UK as well as the US
- I was helped through all situations that arrose on my placement from difficult conversations to my future career. I am still in touch with Management at GSK and still receive support from them through my University education.
- My work load was spread evenly throughout the year and as expected I had some days where my workload would increase/ decrease but if I ever felt it was too much/ not enough Management always welcomed the conversation.
- I was really trusted and had a great opportunity to manage a UK/ US project as well as working on other UK/ US projects with a high impact on the GSK community.
- The skills couldn't have helped me enough from the small things such as how to ask questions constructively to general growing up and becoming a more mature person.
The Company
- The atmosphere was great, everything was really welcoming and we had departmental activities which I helped organise every month.
- Really well organised and the recruitment process ran for a good length of time allowing you to also focus on your University work.
- The firm allowed and paid for me to undertake my Prince2 and ITIL exam during work hours which has not only enhanced my CV but has given me a new skill set to take back into the workplace

- I will be returning to the company to undertake the Graduate Scheme
The Culture
- There were 45 IT students alone and around 200 in total over all sites so there were plenty of opportunities to socialise
- I moved towards London which was fairly expensive all though you don't have to opt for that
- Music for eveyone!
- There were a lot of sports clubs but I'm not too into sports!
