The Role
I had a great team which made my internship extremely enjoyable. I also had the opportunity to get involved in a charity challenge which allowed me to arrange events for colleagues which was fun.
I definitely think my colleagues valued my opinion. However, because of the area I was placed in, it was very difficult to have any valuable input into my colleagues work.
I have had no real interaction with my line manager as they have been extremely busy and often in different locations to myself. However, I have a senior manager who has really helped me in the last few weeks and has provided great support.
I wasn't ever really apart from during my own projects and charity events.
I was given very little responsibility due to the nature of the work. However, the team always got me involved where they could.
I have definitely improved my soft skills which will really benefit me whatever career path I choose to follow. I have also improved my analytical skills by assessing budgets and funding requests. The internship has been crucial in developing skills that will be essential in the future.
The Company
My office has a great atmosphere. Everyone is very relaxed but gets their work done. People are always available for a chat and to provide any help.
Unfortunately, when I joined the group my team was going through a lot of changes, particularly with management. For this reason, my internship was not that well set up. All the work I had to complete was left right until the end.
I feel the company provided me a lot of opportunities to develop myself. I was free to shadow various areas of the business which gave me a well rounded view of LBG. I also got involved with charity work and a finance project. LBG also allowed me to join graduates on a Lunch and Learn where a speaker would discuss more about their area of the business.
Company Parties/Events
I would love to work for LBG as it has such a great work culture and environment. I also feel they develop their graduates well throughout the three years and provide the opportunity to complete a professional qualification. I hope to be referred onto the graduate scheme.
The Culture
I chose to commute from home meaning I did not move into the accommodation provided. This made it harder for me to socialise with other interns. However, I have been out on a number of occasions with my team and some of the interns I met through projects we were involved in.
It is London so it will be more expensive around this area but it is certainly doable. I did not move out of home which made it easier for me. The biggest expense would be travel as trains are costly.
Yes, as mentioned previously I got involved in other projects which were outside the remit of my role.
