The Role
I have enjoyed my internship immensely. It has provided me with a great insight into property. I was given a wide variety of tasks to do and welcomed into the team straight away.
Everyone in the office has been extremely friendly. I feel that my thoughts and actions are completely valued. They listen to what you say and take everything on board.
I have been given a substantial amount of support and guidance from all members of the team. Every task or process was explained thoroughly which has helped built my knowledge and confidence within the field.
I always had a task to do. I have been working on one project for most of the internship so therefore have always been busy whether it was research or inspections.
I was given a lot of control of the project which I was given. However, not too much to make me feel uneasy or uncomfortable with the situation.
I have learnt numerous skills throughout the internship. I have built my confidence working as a team and working independently. I have acquired more extensive IT skills using different software such as Excel. Moreover, I have learnt so much about property and how it interlinks with many aspects of society. Due to my dissertation being based on property, I believe this newly acquired knowledge with help me extensively.
The Company
The general atmosphere in the office was always very happy and positive. Everyone would have friendly conversation together but also take work seriously.
I have been very impressed by how well organised the internship has been. Several weeks before the internship started I was sent a lot of information regarding the internship such as routine, role and pay. Moreover, I have enjoyed the additional department talks which have given me an insight into areas of property and Savills which I have not been exposed to during the internship.
The additional talks which were roughly twice a week provided a substantial level of training. These talks were very informative, especially the graduate talk. We were given tips for our applications and the process which was extremely helpful considering it is something I would love to do.
Company Parties/Events
Savills is an extremely appealing company to work for because of its culture and attitude. All of the employees seems to very friendly and nice but also hard working. The company has a fantastic reputation so therefore is an ideal location to start a career in property. Savills is an extremely social company which makes networking and developing long life friends very easy.
The Culture
I was the only intern however there were several events with my colleagues which enabled me to network and get to know them outside work.
I was living at home.
Exeter night life is as good as you make it!
There were opportunities for me to meet and talk to colleagues outside work.
