The Role
Each day held a new and interesting problem which was relevant to the work that the rest of the team was working on. This enabled me to stretch myself and learn more about the product being developed and tested, and to improve my programming abilities and skills as a software engineer.
The work I was doing was related to the project, and this was used directly by other members on my team which made me feel as if my work was being valued. The office in which I work is sufficiently small that I know everybody on a first name basis and feel comfortable in approaching them.
My manager and supervisors were able to create tickets which would challenge me in new and different ways. If I had any problems or didn't understand how a system or a tool worked, then I was welcome to ask questions. My supervisors additionally gave me tips on how to manage code and effectively take notes.
Very busy. I always had at least one ticket that needed solving in order for the sprint to progress and in order to help the team test the solution that we are working on. I sometimes had multiple tickets and had to spread my workload between them, which I feel that I was able to do.
I was responsible for completing my own work and ensuring that it was up to a high standard before sending it off for review. My work was sometimes required by other members of the team to complete their tasks. I was also responsible for my own self-guided learning of the tools and programs that I was using.
I have certainly improved my programming ability and my problem solving ability. This will help me in my remaining degree studies to learn about esoteric theories of physics and will assist me in any programming or coding projects I will participate in either during my remaining studies or in my future career.
The Company
The office had both a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere where I could approach anyone if I had a problem or if I was simply fetching a drink in the kitchen area, but it also had an atmosphere that was very conducive to doing very focused and high quality work.
The work I was assigned was well structured and relevant to the task that the rest of the team was working on. Work that was challenging and stretched my abilities was always available to me. Despite this, I felt that I was always able to complete this work with the right support.
I have certainly improved my programming ability and my problem solving ability. This will help me in my remaining degree studies to learn about esoteric theories of physics and will assist me in any programming or coding projects I will participate in either during my remaining studies or in my future career.
I had a second stage interview with the company and I am currently waiting for a reply. During this interview I had a discussion about how I would be able to fit starting a career with the company around any future studies, such as a Masters or a DPhil, that I may choose to do in the impending future.

I commuted, so this question is N/A. On a related note, the cost of the commute was high, but I have a railcard and the costs were well covered when I got paid.
