The Role
Really enjoyed it. Was fortunate enough to be placed within a great team who treated me like one of them and gave me exciting tasks to fulfil. Hours were not too long and the corporate culture is very accommodating for newcomers. Would highly recommend to other students interested in the banking world.
Very. Never once felt like "just an intern". Was treated like a team member and included in all team activities and meetings. The team invited me to calls, trusted me to attend meetings even if they contained confidential information. The team perceived me as an asset which they can utilize to help achieve their goals rather than somebody to go get them a cup of coffee
Frequently. Got feedback from all colleagues regularly and had 1 to 1 meetings with my line manager every Friday. In those meetings my line manager and I would address any concerns we have and any factors that have come up during the week that we may want to discuss. This doesn't mean I have to wait till Friday to talk to my line manager, I can approach him at any time. Also, I can approach my team members as well so not necessarily just my line manager.
Quite busy, but not incredibly busy. Some times are busier than others but that's what it's like working in bank. The team did very well though in giving me work whenever possible but it has to be work that is within my capabilities and would allow me to develop. But I was never sat there doing nothing, so there was always something on if I asked.
Similarly to above, quite a bit of responsibility but not a significant amount. Would have preferred a bit more but it could have been worse. They did trust me with sensitive information though and gave me the responsibility to complete my own work and set my own deadlines depending on how I see fit. So was treated like an adult
I think it will benefit me significantly. Allowed me to apply my theoretical concepts into a practical environment and improved vital skills such as excel. Studying a Finance degree and then seeing all of what I learnt and will learn next year was incredibly useful rather than just learning from text books.
The Company
Very accommodating. The corporate culture is wonderful and the group believe in and embrace the values of the company. The atmosphere perfectly balances seriousness and work with interacting with others and building workplace relationships. One of the best features about the bank is definitely the atmosphere and how inclusive they make you feel.
Very organised. We had an induction event initially to introduce us to the organisation and we had very important speakers. Then when I arrived at work I already had an itinerary planned out for the duration of my internship and was already set up on all the systems I will need to use. I had introductory sessions already booked in and training sessions on the systems as well.
Relatively. there are numerous resources online which allow you to develop and select what areas you want to improve on. You are also given time for personal development whenever you please. There aren't that many resources though other than online in which you could really improve yourself and hone your skills

Working from home
Very appealing. after completing the internship it has made me want to look into the future prospects. The graduate programmes look even more enticing and after shadowing different graduates in the bank it is clear that they are given real responsibilities and are also sponsored to complete the professional qualifications of their choosing.
The Culture
We were all put in the same accommodation which really helped facilitate interaction amongst interns and graduates. However, our work was quite segregated as we all worked in different areas and thus we did not interact much during working hours. Would have been nice to spend some time with the others in the workplace and possibly work together on a project.
Lloyds payed for the accommodation if you needed them too which was a big bonus as well. The accommodation was very nice and all the interns lived in the same complex so we could socialize and interact after work. Lot's of activities going on as well for the interns to enjoy after work.
Quite nice. Bristol is a very nice city and certainly nicer than where my university is based
