The Role
It was a great learning experience.
My colleagues always expressed gratitude when I completed pieces of work for them.
My manager was often away at other offices but made sure to have weekly one-to-ones with me. They also helped me gain exposure to other parts of the organisation across the country.
My days varied significantly. Some days my colleagues required a lot of support and I'd be given various tasks. Other days would be extremely quiet- this could've been due to the current market.
I was given the opportunity to attend instructor-led training courses . From these I learnt the importance and art of building rapport, a skill which can applied in every area.
The Company
Relaxed. My colleagues were friendly and welcoming. Despite the work load being challenging, the humorous atmosphere remained.
I didn't feel there was a structure; I helped out where help was needed and planned as I went along. I know some other interns had their whole internship planned out and had been given a schedule, so it varies.
Throughout the internship all interns must partake in the 'Intern Development Journey'. As part of this, you complete a 'Professional Banker Course' and attend online seminars on: divisions in the bank, personal impact and the graduate programme.

Mid Markets isn't particularly appealing to me but the organisation as a whole is. Several of my colleagues have only worked for Lloyds Banking Group for the entirety of their banking career (some spanning over 30 years)- that in itself speaks volumes!
The Culture
Prices up North are a lot lower than down South! Accommodation was provided by Lloyds as I was placed in an office very far from my home, so rent costs etc. were eliminated.
All interns had to participate in a Charity Challenge but other than that, there weren't any outside of work activities.
