The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed the internship, the company definitely make an effort to educate you on all departments within the company through departmental talks, as well as hosting various events and activities throughout the month. Colleagues and fellow interns were friendly, work load was at a good level and support and guidance was consistent throughout.
I felt I could always approach colleagues if I required support with work, people were generally willing to help and explain things to you. The company has an open door policy meaning you can reach out to anyone in the company if you would like to ask them questions or meet up. At the end of the placement interns are given an appraisal which is useful to review how you and the company have done.
Some days I was quite busy, other days not as much, but there was a steady stream of tasks to complete both from your team and the internship activities. Internship activities were not compulsory but most people attend and I would encourage interns to go to them all. You are required to complete a handover written task for the internship too.
Being an intern with little experience I think I was given work appropriate to my knowledge. You are not given a huge amount of responsibility but at the same time you will work on real projects your team is working on. You are expected to manage your time and liaise with your team if you feel you have too much work to meet deadlines or not enough.
The Company
General atmosphere was formal yet not too formal. People are friendly and work hard but enjoy a work life balance and often get involved in other activities around the office. Office has an open plan layout, with hot desking common in my team. The office has a small lunch room and kitchens on each floor.
Overall very organised, you are given a schedule of events and activities before you start your placement. The company is experienced in hosting interns and so graduate mentors and teams are organised for your arrival and aware of the process. You have departmental talks throughout the placement, two guided walks and a social event and fee earners lunch.
The company made an effort for you to get a feel of what it would be like working at Savills, they offer advice on applying to the grad scheme and educate you on divisions within the department with the opportunity for you to develop your network and knowledge yourself. HR team is very organised and also are available to answer questions and offer guidance.

The company offers a high level of support for completing the APC and offers career progression. Company has a strong emphasis on developing talent, accepting a large number of graduates each year, and therefore graduates are valued and make up a decent proportion of the company. Chance to rotate within the company as part of the grad scheme and move departments.
The Culture
Cost of living near the London Savills office will be high, as is going out and socialising. I know of other interns who moved to London temporarily for the internship and were left out of pocket after they had been paid due to the high cost of living and socialising in and around the area.
This will depend on your team and how much effort you make to get involved. I know of interns who did not do much socialising with their team and others who were invited out with their team regularly. There were charity and sports events around the office which some interns attended or got involved with.
