    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed it- met lots of new people and had a fantastic team.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Felt incredibly valued- very happy with my team, got to be involved with higher level work that I was expecting which was great.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given great support and guidance by my line manager who ensured I always understood what was going on whilst trusting me to handle important work- the perfect balance of support and letting me grow through my own volition.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days had more work than others depending on what was going on at the time but most days I had a good level of work- some days I stayed late to finish it but other days I could have left earlier so a good balance.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was allowed to speak to customers and ask them for reviews as well as other tasks which I ended up presenting in team meetings, plus my input always felt valued even at the beginning when my knowledge was poor.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel more motivated and have better time management skills for achieving tasks in a small time frame. More proactive. Better at interacting with new people.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly, fun and everyone was absolutely lovely whilst hard working.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Well organized- the induction days at the beginning feel a bit longer than necessary but it's interesting nonetheless, the actual placement for me was very well organized as we were working on an 8 week project whilst I was there which fitted perfectly into my timeframe and allowed me to learn a lot about a new and upcoming project during my short time working at the bank.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was well invested in, every time I asked for ways to improve I was given advice and my work was valued, but I was told where to improve it so felt like I was making constant progress. My team also told me when I was doing well so I gained confidence to keep asking questions and improving etc.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Good, there are a lot of changes in the bank which makes it hard to know exactly how things will be in a few years but I would love to work with my team again.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, as a local resident I didn't live in the accommodation with the group however we had a nice group of interns to go to lunch with and there were regular social events organized.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Fairly expensive but it is the capital city, again I lived at home so did not pay rent- only costs were travel which is only £3.20 per day so not bad- going out is expensive, but going to uni in north England is super cheap so I probably think everywhere is expensive.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Decent. Classic city nightlife- good bars especially during the festival and lots of shows to see- perfect city for going out in no matter what your interests are.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, went to cinema, shows, bars, night clubs- lots of things to get involved in. Breakfasts at work as well with my team.

    5/5
