The Role
I very much enjoyed my internship, gained a lot of skills and was provided with a lot of responsibility. The internship has entirely fulfilled my expectations and I am very grateful for having been given the chance to work in the team I wanted to join (Acquisition & Leveraged Finance). I am super happy about my decision to join Nomura and the team.
I was highly valued by my colleagues and had the chance to work with colleagues across all seniority levels. My reflection and input was always valued and helped me to develop many skills and insights. On a professional as well as personal level, I truly became a fully respected member of the team and built solid relationships with colleagues in my team and across the firm.
I was given all the support I needed. There was always somebody ready to answer my questions. Of course, there were also several situations where I had to figure out complicated questions on my own without detailed guidance, but the team especially valued my effort and aim to think through complicated questions independently and always excused initial mistakes.
I was a full member of the team and thus very busy. Being busy showed me that my input actually mattered and that I was needed to support the team.
I was given very high responsibility from the beginning and worked with colleagues across all seniority levels. Similar to a full-time analyst, I would work also independently with seniors and enjoyed taking this responsibility.
I have already finished my university studies, but the skills I have developed will be highly valuable throughout my career. I am super happy to be given the chance to continue my career in this fast paced environment and am sure that the skills I learned as an intern will be crucial for my future development.
The Company
Atmosphere was generally very good. Of course people were usually under pressure, but that's part of the business. People came along with each other well and I very much appreciated being part of the team. We usually went for a beer on Friday nights and supported ourselves throughout the day to day work.
Very well organized from the beginning. HR and the team worked very well together to ensure that interns not only get into a team of their choice but also prepared us well with trainings before the internship. The whole process was very well organized and thus allowed every one to adapt quickly to the fast paced environment.
All interns received online training before the internship, a full week of corporate finance training sessions in the first week of the internship and further software and team specific training along the way.

Highly appealing! Nomura is hiring and has communicated their long-term interest in the interns they signed early on. I received an offer to start right away with the team I interned with.
The Culture
Yes. very good atmosphere, we usually went out together and enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner together with the team.
London is always expensive, but Nomura compensated us well, so that all inters were easily able to finance their life.
Although clubs and bars usually close early, London nightlife is awesome if you get yourself outside the office.
Did not really have much time outside of work, but there definitely are many opportunities.
