About You
I greatly enjoyed my placement and would love to do it again. The company has a very friendly vibe and the projects you get the opportunity to work on are very interesting.
After the first week or so I felt as though I was becoming a valued member of the team and that my judgement and work was trusted. It did not feel like I was a hindrance and it felt as though I was welcome.
My team were extremely supportive and had no problem with answering all of my questions with clear explanations and made an effort to help me understand things.
As I had no previous experience in the field I did my placement in I feel as though it has broadened my idea of the variety of things I could work in thanks to studying Civil Engineering. I feel as though the placement has helped me decide which modules to choose going into my 4th year and may even help with ideas for my individual project.
The Company
It felt fairly well structured and I was rarely left with nothing to do.
The atmosphere within the office was lovely and everyone seemed to know each other and get along. There seemed to be an emphasis in enjoying work as well as being successful. Overall it just felt like a pleasant place to be.
My team gave up a lot of their time to help brief me about the subject and help with any queries. A lot of it was self-taught through completing the tasks I was given.
I worked 9am-5.30pm everyday for the 4-week period which gave me a good idea of full-time working life with the company.
During the induction we were shown presentations regarding and elaborating on the company's mission statement and were required to complete several modules to ensure we were compatible with the company's ethical standards and data protection regulations.
My placement had a duration of 4-weeks. It helped to remind me that my degree was worthwhile and worth pursuing further for a relevant career in the future.
Everything Else
I was paid a very reasonable salary which I received at the end of the month.
I took part in a lot of collaborative work with engineers in other offices around the country which allowed me to network. I also attended an office party, helping to befriend members in other teams at the office and increase my contacts.
I was lucky enough to attend an office party which allowed me to befriend members of other teams around the office. My colleagues would also regularly socialise outside of the office and made an effort to get to know me.
Yes, they were well advertised through staff emails.
I definitely would. This placement was a lot of fun and helped me learn a lot. I would love to work for them again.
