About You
The insight provided me with a great insight into the corporate life and a career in banking. This insight at Santander fulfilled my hopes to gain a clearer vision of my future career path. Although the whole internship lasted for a short period, the presentation and activities were all really helpful
I felt really really appreciated at Santander. A lot was expected and I even had to do lots of research beforehand but as soon as I earned respect by delivering good results, I felt that the work environment got more relaxed and I was more free with allocating time and effort.
In my point of view, the focus on personal development rather than ‘selling’ the company was one of the best aspect of Santander's Spring Programme. All the skills that I have acquired during my time there will be certainly very valuable when going through future assessment centres. We were accompanied by advisors all the time and could chat with graduates about their experience and ask for tips.
I haven’t learned much technical knowledge about finance aside from what a career and daily tasks would involve. However, my transferable skills have improved due to the new and uncertain situation. It was the first time for me being part of such a large organisation and networking with so many new people.
The Company
The insight was very well structured. At no point of time did I felt bored or that this internship is unorganised. Everything followed a clear schedule and our days were packed with many networking events, presentations and tasks. This kept us busy throughout the internship which I thing was a positive thing.
The atmosphere was great at Santander. Everyone was motivated and focussed to get the most out of the insight. It was great to see that the employees were very welcoming and to talk to us. It was not as competitive as I have anticipated at the beginning though which is a plus.
The company invested a lot. Not only money but also time to sit down with us, have a talk and answer all our questions. Every presentation was informative and the tasks well thought. I liked that employees of the company actually took their to network with us and share their lessons with us.
Being present at the company itself, talk to people at Santander and to listen to their company presentation definitely helped me to gain an understanding of what it would be like to work for Deloitte. However, I am not sure if I can say now if I want to work there later but it was a great impression nevertheless.
The company culture is great and full of passion and motivation. It makes you better person and gives you an incentive to become better. Everyone is extremely talented and smart. But this is exactly the culture or environment you want to be. If you talk with employees or play close attention it will more than enough to gain an understanding of the culture.
Everything Else
I can definitely recommend this internship to anyone who is interested in a career in banking. Everything was well explained and can give you the information you need to decide on whether you want to pursue a career or not. Especially for us first year students it is a great opportunity to experiment and see what we like or what we do not like.
