The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience during the summer - worked with a diverse group of people on very interesting projects. The programme was engaging and was as much about my personal development as it was about adding value towards the firm. Everyone who I met provided me with their time and facilitated co-creation of value.
I felt as though any credible argument which I put forward on how to expand/retrench in certain business areas was taken on board by my managers. I was also provided with ample information to justify why one of my recommendations was not viable.
The support I received from my managers provided me with the tools to understand things both holistically and at a granular level. I was never shunned from asking any questions and often contributed to ideas based on the time and experience which my managers/supervisors spent and imparted upon me.
Comfortably busy - striking the perfect balance between being too busy not having enough to do. I was always able to choose some aspect of work to focus on and never was left with no work to do. I found it to be a highly engaging method of working.
The responsibility I was given was far greater than anything I expected before the internship. I was provided with complete autonomy within projects and when unsure was always able to receive the correct sign-off for doing something. I wasn't running the show, but it was pretty close.
I developed all my soft skills by interacting with people within the business on a daily basis. On the other side of the same coin, I was able to develop my technical skills using specialist and generalist software packages to an advanced level - which challenged me to learn new things on a daily basis. I see both these categories of skills as beneficial going forwards into my degree and beyond.
The Company
Captivating - I never experienced a dull day.
As a complete testament to how well things were organised, I found all events and activities conducted during the internship to be seamless and not require any thought of how to make something happen. Even the pre-internship communication was clear and never contained any ambiguity.
I felt as though there was a great level of investment in my development during the internship, and I could clearly see how it never stops with just the summer period. There were various repositories which allowed the facilitation of continued training and development.

The appeal of the organisation is that employment prospects are mostly down to individual motivation. I have found it to be a complete meritocracy with the fair distribution of work.
The Culture
Amazing
Standard for the location
Great!
Yes, I was able to pursue my own studies and self-development outside of the internship arena, and wasn't just constrained to thinking about the work which I was conducing that particular day/week.
