The Role
Really enjoyable. Knowledgeable and helpful team. Well organised. Always had enough to do. Learnt an enormous amount.
Definitely felt valued. Got along with the team very well. Always happy to help, give advice or just chat.
I was supported very well by my managers. They made sure I knew what I had to do. Had regular meetings to see where I was up to and how I could improve.
I often had a lot to do. Challenging but manageable. I was never bored
I was writing a program to be used for testing Understandably, none of my code went into production, however it was my responsibility to create a program that the team would find most useful. I thought it was a good amount of responsibility for an intern.
I learn an enormous amount. Mostly technical knowledge such as programming best practices. HR and the general environment meant I also got to develop my soft skills and general skills needed for a working environment. This was valuable to me as it is not something I get much of in my degree.
The Company
Professional but lighthearted. Obviously it is a global investment bank so there has to be some level of constant professionalism, but everyone always had a positive outlook and attitude towards their work and was friendly. Lots of fun and laughs were had in our team and outside the office.
Very well organised. We always knew what events were going on. I always knew what I had to do that day.
The firm and everyone in it gave a lot of their time and knowledge to us. I felt that everyone wanted to help us and see us grow, whether they had any interest in us coming back or not.

I would definitely like to come back and work at Nomura when I graduate. I have not found out yet whether I have got an offer.
The Culture
There were always people around at lunch and after work for socialising with. Everyone was very friendly.
It's in the city, so it's understandably not going to be cheap. But saying that, there are definitely places to go that aren't too expensive so I can't complain really.
Pubs mostly. I didn't explore the nightlife that much personally but I gather it is decent.
We had a charity event organised by HR where we were put into teams to raise money for charity. There are always emails going around about other non-work societies or events etc. as well.
