The Role
Internship was very enjoyable throughout everyone involved in Citi made an effort to make it the best it could be. HR ran a series of enjoyable events and talks for interns (but one does run until 19:45) on a wide range of finance related topics.
Citi employees are generally incredibly friendly and helpful. The team I was was on made every effort to include me.
Manager was generally very busy and so only able to provide limited support and guidance but that which was given was excellent.
Did not have any work for the first fortnight of the internship (had 3 days training + online training which took between 1/2 day and 3 days depending on your reading speed.) I was generally under-worked but was very busy (needed to come in on weekend and work till 9 one night) during the last fortnight of the internship due to the need to produce 2 presentations plus self evaluation plus normal work.
I was given useful work. Enabled Citi to meet a regulatory objective.
The skills and knowledge I gained from the internship will be of enormous help to me both in the final year of my degree and in my future career.
The Company
Jovial and fun loving but not suitable for the easily offended
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
A significant portion of tech interns will receive an offer.
The Culture
The tech interns all got along well and we had lunch together daily and went out for meals on multiple occasions.
Everything in Canary wharf is expensive. A cheap pint at parlour (popular outdoor bar for Citi employees) is £6.
Citi have a variety of clubs such as badminton.
