The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placment in general. I had a varied and extensive workload to complete whilst on the job. I got the opportunity to go on some site visits and viewings and every member of the office were welcoming to me in the early days.
Particularly in the smaller teams, but all teams were very complimentary of the work I had done for them and often let me know how it supported them in decisions to clients.
The support and guidance from the Graduate HR team was second to none, they were excellent in asking any questions I had promptly and efficiently. In the office my mentor and Key contact in the team were also very approachable and particularly my mentor was very helpful at teaching me.
On a daily basis my workload fluctuated. With the project we had to complete in our own time to hand in at the end of the internship this kept us busy when there was not so much to do in the team. In some teams it was easier than others because they could give us larger project that take me more time whilst others just had tasks lasting a couple of hours.
Again it did differ between the teams but generally I was given tasks to do then discuss them with my team mentor. Others where there was less work to do I was to read through documents which wasn't as interesting and it was more to fill the time in I felt, but it still gave me a greater understanding of what was going on.
From the goals I set out at the start of the placement to improve my skill set and develop new ones I feel I have done all I had intended from the internship, which I am delighted about.
The Company
Relaxed, productive and welcoming.
I felt the internship was very well organised from the Graduate HR team and this was also implemented at a local level too.
They provided presentations about different services that the company offers. They made us set out goals at the beginning and put in measures that we fulfilled them.
Company Parties/Events
They gave us an indepth insight to the graduate scheme and what was involved in it and how to succeed in getting a place.
The Culture
Yes, there was often drinks after work and a great festival night out.
Nothing out of the ordinary.
A few bars but not close by.
Not particularly.
