The Role
Very enjoyable experience on the Lloyds Clients and Markets internship. I received lots of training and was able to gain exposure to different parts of the bank. My colleagues were lovely and very supportive of my needs, allowing me to constantly enhance my experiences.
I gained exposure to a variety of deals and was trusted to help further different tasks despite being an intern.
My line manager was extremely supportive and approachable. I was able to ask for feedback and guidance whenever and wherever possible.
I joined during a busy period for my team, so workload was quite heavy, but manageable.
I took ownership on a few projects, and was given tasks to complete without guidance (but was always able to ask for help when needed). However, as an intern working in a client facing role, there were limitations with regards to responsibilities, mainly due to lack of experience
I developed lots of soft-skills which are useful and applicable to a variety of tasks e.g. excel, public speaking etc. Other training I received was more relevant to the specific team and job I was working in, so it is useful if I were to pursue a career in the same sector but maybe not so relevant to a science/ engineering degree.
The Company
Atmosphere was very much team specific. There is usually a good balance
A lot better than I had expected. Again, it was team/ division dependant, but my division had well organised training sessions and a few socials too. IT seemed to be a problem at times but was solvable.
They organised extra training sessions outside of the company e.g. Bloomberg training session They are willing to further personal training and development
They have been very supportive with helping good applicants secure permanent employment within the organisation
The Culture
Team specific, but some social events occurred
Based around quite an expensive area, however interns from outside of London were provided with accommodation during the duration of the internship
A few bars for after work drinks but not much of a nightlife scene happening.
occasionally, but you usually have to be keen and seek them for yourself
