The Role
It was a great experience, I received a project to myself and had flexibility on how to complete it. It was a great learning experience and a fun project. My manager was always willing to help and so were others when he wasn't available. There are a lot of fun activities including an intern hackathon in enfield.
Before each section of the project we discussed the uses, and requirements of the project and how best to go about it. I could always just turn to my manager and ask for help as long as I had given the problem some though myself. I could even ask other people as everyone is very helpful.
The work was structured well, and there are lots of fun events going on and chances to play games to take a break. There is always time for a bit of that so it's not too busy. I did on occasion work weekends to progress my project but my manager had pointed out this wasn;'t necessary because he knew that he didn't expect my project to finish (I just wanted to get a good chunk done)
Ive learned how to write HTML, JavaScript and CSS and also improved my general logic and problem solving skills. I have improved my code structure and commenting skills too, all of which are very useful for a job in this sector. My communication and presentation skills have also benefited which are useful skills in all cases.
The Company
A friendly and helpful one. I feel comfortable getting help and talking to people, the flexible working ours allow you to relax and take part in sports, games and competitions. There is a constant pool ladder in the office. All these things mean the atmosphere is a very enjoyable one.
Apart from a delay in my laptop arriving late at the beginning, everything was smooth. I had no problem with logging on to anything or accessing I need to. My manager drew me up a plan with links and help information so I knew where I was. The organisation of social events is also quite good, I always know when something is on.
There is an activity week down in enfield with a hackathon and mock presentation and other activities, all of which developed my skills including logic, teamwork and communications. I have a personal manager/ mentor who's responsibility it is to help and guide me so I feel that they put a lot of effort in.

I am currently hoping for a 2nd internship with them next year, if that goes well I would definitely like to work here. The pay is decent, the people are fun and the work is very enjoyable. I thunk it is the type of place I want to work because I want to enjoy my job and not just take the options that pay best.
The Culture
Regular board games and poker nights allowed for people to get together and be social. There are also sports options that achieve the same goal. People are very friendly and helpful, we also have starters and leaving drinks for everyone. All of these things give an excuse to experience the social life which is really great.
Edingbough is great, you can get across the city fairly easily, yet there is still stuff on. I personally went kickboxing a lot. You can find something to suit you, if you come during august then definitely go to some fringe events. Given the flexible working hours there is always possibility to take time and join outside of work activities
