The Role
I really enjoyed my internship as I was given a lot of varied work to do, with a lot of responsibility attached to the work. Everyone was really friendly and that made it really easy to settle in.
My colleagues were really nice. They always asked me how my weekend/night had been; never patronised me or talked to me in a condescending way. I felt able to ask for help or more work to do.
Literally could not have been better. I was given space to own my project and allowed to run with ideas, yet they were always there to support me with questions I had.
For the first 9 weeks I was nicely busy- I never felt stressed or under pressure but never bored either. In the last week work dried up a bit, but this gave me a perfect opportunity to network and explore other areas of the FCA
A significant amount- I had my own project to deliver which will help to decide next years strategy
I felt that the internship has built upon pre-existing skills rather than start them from scratch. However it has helped my productively vastly as I could not go on my phone to look at social media etc during the work day.
The Company
It was quiet only because a lot of people go on holiday over the summer as would be expected. However, the office was very positive and there were a lot of jokes/laughs at lunches etc. We also had a lot of team events such as going to a 20-20 match and then post work drinks. Food was in abundance, with lots of people bringing in cakes from holiday/ to celebrate birthdays. Had afternoon tea once a week which was a nice way to meet people from other teams.
Very. Had centrally structured events such as learning lunches and a csr day. My manager had done the internship so knew what an intern wanted and from day 1 I had work to do.
People were very willing to meet up to discuss a wide range of issues such as what they did, career options etc.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Whilst I do not know yet if I have a job with the FCA, I would definitely take one if offered.
The Culture
We had a social sec who organised events for us and there was pretty good attendance. It was also nice just to go and spend lunch in the canteen together
London so expensive but this was somewhat mitigated by the pay we got.
As someone who did not go out clubbing but went to bars and pubs it was perfect. There are lots of options in Canary Wharf, with Bank and Shoreditch also easy to get to.
Yes, I received multiple invites to join FCA sports teams. There were work events such as going to the 20-20 cricket and going on a river cruise.
