The Role
I enjoyed my time on the First Year Internship. I was put on the audit of one of KPMG's biggest clients, which was great. I also got given varied and interesting work on the audit.
I felt really valued. They took an interest in what I wanted to achieve, and tried their best to accomodate this.
I was given guidance on all the tasks (although at times it could have been better). I was supported well with regards to any queries I had.
I had a good balance of work; I was neither bored or too busy at any occasion.
I had the same responsibilties as someone who had just graduated would be expected to have.
I think KPMG could have developed my skills more, and given more training, but it was only a two week programme, and the skills I learnt on-the-job will certainly be useful in the future.
The Company
It was really quiet and dull, but I was on site at a major client, and there were also many KPMG partners on site, which may be explanations.
It could have been better - the induction could have been better, the planned work for me over the internship could have also been organised better. But, this was the first time they had the First Year Internship.
There wasn't much personal development or training, but it was only a two week programme, and the skills I learnt on-the-job where quite good.
Sports and Social Club
Very appealing, a great company to work for.
The Culture
There was amongst fellow students, but not to the same extent amongst colleagues.
Not really, but the internship programme wasn't that long.
