The Role
My placement was in the CSL team at Centrica. It was very enjoyable and very rewarding. The only issue I had was with the accomodation they placed me in.
More so at the end of the placement. I was more confident and able to do work, hence I was given lots of different work by different people.
Everyone was very busy but always made time to review my work/help me/provide feedback.
I was very busy a lot of the time. When I was not so busy I was able to go round the site and form relationships/better understanding. The only negative part would be that I had to spend quite a few days out of the office for various events with centrica group and CSL. Some of this was repetitive and meant I was only in the office 4days a week for 4/5 weeks out of the 10 I was there. It was quite distracting.
My work was used directly in bigger projects but was reviewed before use.
I learnt so much about myself as well as the oil and gas industry. My learnings will be invaluable in the future.
The Company
Everyone was very very busy and often stressed. However there was always time for a quick light-hearted chat or joke occasionally. Everyone was lovely.
It might have been because I was placed at CSL within centrica, but I had issues accessing the system initially, receiving emails from the centrica group and with the pay system being able to access my P45 form and documents - hence having me on the wrong tax code. Within CSL everything was organised well.
There was some training provided by group. But my learning came mostly from people in the office.

National Travel
I would love to be based back within CSL for a graduate position. The only thing that puts me off the graduate scheme is all the travelling, a year in each place. However, if this is necessary it is manageable.
The Culture
Us interns were included in weekly badminton sessions. However this was the extent of the socialising aspect until the last couple of weeks of the placement. Partly our fault for travelling home at weekends though.
Good.
Very very quiet Monday-Thursday. Apparently the weekend was busier but I went home most weekends for events.
Only badminton provided an option for this.
