The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed by internship in Hays Recruitment, I enjoy how no two days are the same, they operate in a high performance environment which makes it really exciting. As an intern, you are expected to be ambitious and motivated to learn as you are exposed to 360 recruitment process.
I felt extremely valued by my colleagues, hard work was always recognised and help was always there If needed. I was apart of a great high performance team which made it easier to pick up the process.
Management and supervisors were always there if needed. A degree of flexibility was also given to use your own initiative which made it easier to come to grips with the process as you are able to learn from mistakes and make sure not to do them.
Everyday was different, from meeting candidates , to meeting clients and resourcing candidates. Every day there was a different task, and I'm lucky that my supervisors and managers delegated a great amount of work to me which gave me responsibility and exposed me to the full recruitment cycle.
I was given a large amount of responsibility. I was sourcing candidates, holding interviews, placing candidates, meeting clients and conducting Business Development calls.
As I am studying Business Studies, this internship will be of huge benefit to me. As sales is a major part of my degree, I will now understand the different elements that are involved and the different forms sales can take. Many people would say recruitment is under the HR umbrella, which I would have also said before this, but it is much more on the sales side.
The Company
General atmosphere was great. When work needed to be done and targets needed to be met, the atmosphere was quite intense but this ensured everyone reached there potential every month. We are also given a great degree of flexibility as it is an open plan office.
The internship programme at Hays is second to none. As an intern, you are not shielded to the actual goings on of the business. You are given the chance to get a taste of the full process and this is down to how the overall programme is set up.
Hays gave me the tools needed to succeed in recruitment. They started at the bottom and gradually delegated different tasks to me which helped grow.
Future prospect with Hays look very promising
The Culture
yes, socialising events were organised and we were always encouraged to attend.
