The Role
I enjoyed my internship a lot. I learned so much during my time at Hays and I feel I had some really valuable experiences and learned so many things that will help me in the future. The team that I worked on were lovely and so easy to
I felt valued by my colleagues as they would thank me for the work I did and were always willing to help if needs be.
If ever I had a question,, no matter how obvious one of the girls would always help despite how busy they all were.
I was very busy on a daily basis, literally never a dull moment. The only times when this felt irritating was when my tasks were dependant on other people that wouldn't get back to me. Or when the client would ask us to give them information that we had already supplied to them. Apart from that I definitely enjoyed never being idol.
I was given a large amount of responsibility due to the fact the contractors start date would be pushed out if I didn't manage to obtain a reference for them. I was also responsible for reference letters and letters to open bank accounts, sending people their iqn login details, and scanning and uploading contractors documents.
I feel like it has greatly assisted my communication skills. I feel a lot more confident about my ability to communicate certain issues now than I did when I first started. I also feel like it has made me less likely to give up when a task is hard. I have also learned how to prioritise tasks effectively.
The Company
I think there was a good balance between times when everyone would be focused on their work and times when we would have a laugh together.
I think it wasn't really possible to have it organised seamlessly due to the fact that the client would demand certain tasks be completed last minute and there were a lot of changes during my internship. However I still felt that the internship was beneficial and that I learned a lot from the tasks I was assigned.
I feel it would have been nice to given the chance to learn about a few more functions during my time, but for all the responsibilities I was given I was taught well.
My manager enquired if it would be possible for me to stay on part time when I go back to college, which would be a great opportunity but it would be dependant on m timetable for the semester.
The Culture
Because I was on a different floor to the other girls on placement I wouldn't have seen them too often but they were always supper lovely and easy to talk to whenever I did see them.
I now understand why my sister never gets lunch out while at her college because everywhere over this side of town is quite expensive in comparison to the 2.50 chicken fillet roll I would usually go for at college, but it was never a big issue as I would usually bring in lunch.
