The Role
Arup offers a company that feels like a small community, with everyone willing to help you settle in and assist you when needed.
My colleagues were really welcoming and appreciated that I needed a little time to settle in and learn the ropes. They appreciated the new different skill set I brought to the team and valued my work.
My manager was always on had to give me new tasks and offer support for existing ones. Time was always taken to sit down and answer my questions etc.
I was always fairly busy balancing different tasks each day. It various from research, analysis and bid preparation.
I was given the responsibility for various tasks throughout the placement. It varied but predominatnely was compiling technical notes to back policy decisions etc.
The exeprience writing bids formulating documents to a professional standard will assist me greatly in my final year of study producing my research paper. Furthermore, it will allow me to settle quicker into a graduate job having had experience working in a consultancy environment.
The Company
Really upbeat and a diverse split of backgrounds and ages. Very social.
Everything was set up when I got here, so I could get logged on and started right away. Hot-desking works great so that you can set up in any Arup office within seconds. It was really easy to extend my contract.
Arup inspired my final year research project and have offered to support me for the forthcoming year.

In terms of consultancy in the UK it's the best you'll get if youre really passionate about doing things to the best of your ability even if it costs a little more.
