    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed working here as there is so much innovation going on in all the departments, being able to see and help develop those ideas into user products is truly exciting

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt treated as an equal employee, not a student, my work done here felt valued and I didn't feel uncomfortable to voice my opinion as they were always willing to listen to help answer and issues I had

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor was able to help me whenever I got stuck during my placement and was able to either let me know what the next step to do is, or point me in the direction of who to talk to, to find out the information required.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most days I was busy working on my project, however some days would be slow or quiet depending on whether you were awaiting information to progress with your project, in this instance I would normally ask whether there is any work I can do for someone else in the meantime.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given sole responsibility of my time management and how I pursued my project, rather than have someone looking over my shoulder every second of the day

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The problem definition and root cause analysis I have been taught whilst being here will help me analyse any issues I may come across in projects and robustly fix what is wrong with them without having the issue reoccur.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office in general was very calm, however the lack of desks causes issues for anyone whom arrives to work late, this causes people to get to the office very early so they can have a specific seat. People are very easy to approach though and talk to, it's a very friendly environment where people are willing to help and have a chat about projects they're working on and find out other peoples opinions related to it.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was amazingly organised, upon arrival we had 2 induction days in which the speakers where knowledgeable and told us interesting facts about the company and the story about them. Upon arriving at the office I was given my laptop straight away and able to login to the workplace system and use all of the internal services given straight away

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company offers many courses for personal training and development through an internal system where you can see what is on offer and book onto a training course, there was never any issue with signing up to these as the company want their employees to keep learning as they work. They also offer £200 for you to learn a new skill whether it be cooking or skiing, to help develop you as a person.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It is very appealing the idea of working for Jaguar Land Rover, to the point that I have already secured my next summer placement with them and I am looking at trying to get onto the Graduate Scheme after I finish my degree as there are endless possibilities of where you could work and the skills you learn as you do so.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All of the interns stayed in Coventry Uni accommodation over the summer as it allowed us to all hang out together in the evenings and go out at the weekends. It made a really enjoyable lifestyle where everyone got on and were able to talk about what teams everyone is in and the cool stuff that their departments get up to.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The accommodation was about £90 per week and Coventry is quite cheap as a city so with the pay of the placement it makes a thoroughly enjoyable nightlife, there is also places such as Warwick Castle, the British Motor Museum and all sort of places to see within the local area which give the city more character and make it interesting to live there.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was exciting and cheap which makes a very good combination, the clubs are all close enough that you are able to walk to them and you feel safe whilst being with all of your friends going out. With a wide variety of clubs it also caters to everyones taste of music whether it is EDM or pop, there's something for everyone.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Outside of work you have all of the free time you could want, working from 7:30-16:00, you have a lot of free time in the evening to do whatever you would like to do, within the accommodation there was a 5-a-side football league set up for all of the interns to play in. But there's plenty in the local area which means you are able to go out and explore in the evenings.
