The Role
A really great and well organized internship, really friendly people and I was given challenging client work straight away which helped me to learn really quickly.
Everyone in my department was really lovely and welcoming, and I felt I could go to them with anything regardless of their rank.
My counsellor and internship managers were both fantastic and helped me fulfil all my goals in the short time I was there.
There was definitely a need for time management skills but I was able to stay busy all day and take on all work offered, only leaving at most 45 minutes late. I did often get in 30 minutes early in the morning too.
I helped out on important client work and was definitely given independence and freedom, but of course there was a limit on what I was able to take control of given my lack of knowledge and experience.
The experience helped me to develop confidence in adapting to a new environment, and made me realise just how much I can accomplish in a day. I'm hoping to carry these new skills on during my final year at uni.
The Company
The atmosphere was very laid back and friendly despite the busy times. I often had lunch with members of the team and meeting new people for a coffee/chat was encouraged.
Perfectly organized, completed almost every task on my checklist of essential & desirable experiences to complete during the internship.
I was given many of the training sessions that the grads receive, as well as being involved in department training activities. People really gave up their time to enrich my experience and make sure I was learning as much as possible.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
They decide whether to offer you a job within a couple of weeks of ending the placement, I have yet to hear back but fingers crossed!
The Culture
I saw many of the interns on the advisory scheme quite often as we did training together. There were also bigger social events for interns at the start and end of the scheme.
London is a very expensive area of course but the canteen was subsidized and you didn't have to pay out much for social events as these were often covered by the company or other colleagues.
London has fantastic nightlife and many of the interns would go out for drinks all the time.
EY has many other activities going on all the time, and colleagues and other interns were always looking to go out for drinks or lunch. If I'd had a longer placement I'm sure opportunities would be even more apparent.
