The Role
I enjoyed the challenge of the work and the environment at Metaswitch. Having lots of interns made for a good social experience.
Manager was very supportive and other employees, especially in my team made an effort to talk to me and make me feel welcome.
My manager was the only one giving me significant advice, which was fine because he sits next to me so its easy to ask for help. Just a couple of occasions where I felt help could have been given sooner to avoid me getting stuck needlessly but generally very good.
The fact that hard work is encouraged but I wasn't presented with any firm deadlines, mean I was always working at my own pace, which I think is the best way for me to work.
Code would always be sent to my manager before being submitted, so in that regard, no real additional responsibility to basic things like turning up on time and working reasonably hard.
Coding and computer work in general is a very useful skill, and that's one of the main reasons for me choosing Metaswitch. It wont have much application to the next couple of years of my degree but will almost certainly be useful later on
The Company
It was very quiet, but I prefer it like that for working, then trips to the pub and other social events in and around work made up for it
There were small issues like not being told about people moving into the company houses, and having an overly difficult first task to begin with, but they didn't really bother me. The organisation in general was solid and there wasn't anything which actually caused a problem.
I feel as though I've learnt a lot from the internship, largely due to the teaching from my manager.

Company Parties/Events
I'd definitely like another offer to come back to metaswitch and would almost certainly take it if I did get one.
The Culture
Lots of interns meant it was easy to find people to meet up with and people to generally get along with and the company houses further helped that social scene.
Within Enfiled, it was all fine, and the company houses are very cheap but there isn't much to do in Enfield, so I ended up spending quite a lot going into London and traveling around there.
The only night life in Enfield was chilling with other interns, so not really night life in the sense of going out.
There is a lot for most people, but I have a painful joint condition which makes it very hard for me to partake in any sport, which limited the options I had.
