The Role
The placement was great, I learnt more than expected and gained so many new skills that I can now use in my final year at university.
The whole of the body shop team are great, everyone is always smiling and always says hello, you feel valued and even as a intern you are a big part of the team.
My team are very close, they helped me with anything I needed and more. they would always provide me with relevant information to help me. If there were any problems I could rely on my manager to fix them with me.
With our line of work in depends on how many people are interested in upgrading their stores, so therefore the fluctuation of work is a lot. some weeks were much busier than others, however with careful organisation its easy to manage.
I had a lot of responsibility, as our team is small its important that we take on big amounts of work. And being one of the only in house designers it was often down to me to ensure the plans or visuals were correct and accurate.
Doing the placement has enabled me to successfully start up my own business, I now freelance in London and back at the body shop. Im then going back to university to finish my degree and carry on with my business after that.
The Company
People were serious but always up for fun!
Being very busy meant that you had to think for yourself sometimes, which is great as you end up leaning more along the way.
they provided me with the skills, training and software.
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare/Dental
Im now working as a freelancer for them on a part time basis.
The Culture
There was a big divide between two groups of interns, being the only male I was in the middle.
I lived at home and commuted into work.
Im not sure as I didn't live in the area, however I hear that croydon is great now with box part and with Victoria and London Bridge 20 minutes aways its great.
No not really, there are some events that are to do with volunteering in the community.
