The Role
I enjoyed my placement the most out of any previous jobs I have had. I feel the work was well suited to me.
I feel like I was treated equally as an employee but would not socialise much with my colleagues outside of work. I would not consider them part of my extended family but if I had any problems there was someone to talk to.
I was given lots of support by the people in my office, my supervisor and my team leader.
I always had something to do and could fit in completing university assignments also.
I was given as much responsibility as the other employees at the company
The skills I developed will definitely benefit me in my future career.
The Company
The office was very quiet which suited me but sometimes there could have been a bit more of a relaxed atmosphere. It would have been nice to have a bit more office banter!
The HR team didn't do a very good job at organising the placements or the familiarisation day but BDD, DMPK, Ware were excellent once I had started my placement.
I was given lots of opportunities to develop my skills and train in new areas.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
I would love to return to GSK to work in R&D but there aren't many opportunities available at the moment. I think I made a good impression so hopefully an opportunity will arise over the next few years.
The Culture
The students had a really good social life outside of work!
Ware, Hertfordshire was very expensive, a lot more expensive than what I am used to.
For the small town where we lived it was good. Hertford and London are not far away either.
No opportunities were offered to me.
