The Role
The internship taught me a lot, both technically and socially. It provided a lot of opportunities to work on interesting tasks and exposed me to colleagues outside my specific team.
My colleagues trusted me and were very approachable and interactive. Also, people around the organization would generally give you credit for good work.
My manager was constantly helping me improve my skill set and was always open for questions, advice or feedback. The team was very proactive with the internship, which allowed them to work with me on the skills they wanted me to improve on.
Although it depended on the time of year, I was generally busy during the year. I had fixed weekly, monthly and quarterly tasks, and usually various ad hoc requests to go along with it. It would get very busy when my team had a project to prepare for and a deadline to meet.
This definitely was one of my favorite parts of the internship. The deeper I got into it, the more I felt comfortable and the better I got with the work, so my team considered me an important part of the team and did not shy away from increasing my responsibilities.
Even though the work may not have been completely correlated to my studies, I was learning a lot through sharpening my technical and social skills.
The Company
Casual and easy-going. Most people are friendly and happy to help.
The internship had a set structure to it, which evolved as the year went by.
Some internal and external courses we could attend.
