    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was treated like any other employee, it wasn't just making cups of tea and following other members of staff around to see what they were doing. From day one I was stuck in and doing tasks that were helping the running of the branch and facing customers. I enjoyed that I was treated like everyone else and didn't feel like an intern.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I got on really well with everyone at my branch and made good friends that I will stay in contact with as I complete my final year at University. However, as 3 month interns don't drive at all there were times when I felt useless and like I was more of a burden to my branch as I kept having to ask other people to move cars for me. Although, despite this still feel like I was treated like an equal during my time at Enterprise.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The training folder that we are required to complete was something that management did not seem bothered about, as they were more focussed on helping those that were on a year placement or graduate placement. Multiple times I asked for help on certain areas and was not given the training required so there were some parts I had to learn myself.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • We were extremely busy, there was always something that needed doing, and customers coming into the branch. Monday's, Fridays and Weekends, tended to be the busiest and felt like it was non-stop all day, a positive of this is that the days went quite quickly.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given as much responsibility as everyone else, this meant having to do the same jobs and being held accountable for areas of the business. I was even given an area of the business to take responsibility of by myself.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My communication and leadership skills have definitely developed and will help me when writing essays and doing group work. Also, the internship has made me a lot more productive and better at managing my time, which will certainly help when it comes to starting my dissertation;.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • When it was busy the atmosphere was quite stressful, but then on days where there were less customers it was quite relaxed and friendly.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was really well organised, the training days had structure and there was always a support network there if there were any issues.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • On training days I felt there was a lot of investment in us and a lot of time and effort went into the training for us. However, I felt that in the branch the training and development was not as effective as it could be.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The progression is really appealing, if you work hard you can get really far in the company quite quickly. It is definitely the place to go to if you want to build a career.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene was quite good, the area night out and pride event was really enjoyably. There are also opportunities to go for drinks with colleagues and food after work which you should definitely take the opportunity to do.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home during the placement so managed to save a lot of money and when going along to social events I usually didn't have to pay for much myself.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife was great when we went out, there were a lot of bars and clubs around.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There weren't many opportunities but we went out for quite a few meals to celebrate hard work.
