The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed my placement
I felt my work made a great contribution and it was valued by my supervisor
Full support and guidance given throughout the year, although this became less as I learnt the techniques which was good as I was able to work independently. Full support with producing a placement report.
Some days I would be completely busy if I had two experiemnts running simultaneously or if I had a big experiement. Some days I would spend in the office completing analysis and write ups.
I was in charge of running several experiments and organisisng these.
Learnt many laboratory skills as well as personal transferable skills. The year made me more confident in many areas.

The Culture
There was about 100 students at GSK. 13 in my department. Good social life.
I lived at home, but lived within the area. Cost is good as not in a city.
good access to london and cambridge via train. Also the town has a leisure park with clubs and there were many bars in the older part of town.
