The Role
I had a great time during the internship. I feel like I have learned a lot, met smart and interesting people and challenged myself on the daily. Although it is intense, I believe everyone should do it
The team I joined was extremely kind and spent a lot of time teaching me the materials, the industry, and the job. There have been many times when we hung out together, but also plenty of serious moments where we worked well together
My line manager was probably the best part of the internship. I received an incredible amount of training from him. Even my buddy was great and showed me many things, especially on the social side
Very busy absolutely. But I do not see it as a negative thing. As an intern, you are asking to be busy all the time so you can learn new things and challenge yourself. In the end, I am happy I was kept very busy.
Since there had been some major changes in the team structure in the current year and the team was understaffed, I was given more responsibility than an average intern. I am grateful for it and I enjoyed it very much
The work ethic, dedication, and drive to do a spotless job are skills for life. Also, I believe that the internship taught me to be much more reflective than I was in everything I do. It taught me also to look at things from a different point of view and to never leave anything out of analysis
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was great. I found a very collegial and collaborative environment. Every person, even those that I wasn't working with directly proved to be helpful in many occasions
Very well organised. I believe that the training in the first week could have been a little bit more advanced, and perhaps a team building exercise in the first week would have helped to get to know everyone better instead of drinking together
We always were provided with every comfort and attention we could have hoped for. The training, the outdoors activities, the events, and even the speakers were a result of how much the company has invested in us, which is something that I value very highly
Company Parties/Events
A job in a great financial institution such as HSBC is extremely appealing
The Culture
Absolutely great social scene. everyone was friendly and genuinely interested in everything others. I was shocked (in a very positive way) by this
cost of socializing was mostly expensive in terms of time, as the main goal of the internship was to perform well on the job. However, my managers were always understanding when I needed a couple of hours off to attend events
Did not see much of the nightlife, apart from the events which were very good.
HSBC offered many opportunities but I did not take advantage of them as I was trying to focus on performing well on the job
