The Role
The internship was a very enjoyable experience where by I learnt a number of new skills whilst developing current skill in an environment that was interesting or not with out challenges. Each new area of learning was made more interesting via the testing that took place and putting of skills into practice.
I felt extremely valued by collages as a number of achievements were celebrated by not just my branch but the area as a whole. This was done through the use of social media where by an achievement was put on to a group chat where by I was praised for my achievements.
Management have supported me through my time and trials at Enterprise where I have received frequent constructive feedback from my manager and constant assistance to help me reach my full potential.
There were few moments whereby there was not a job to do at Enterprise. There is always a task at hand to do, such as customer service. There are times where there is a large work load put on you, however, your branch manager and fellow co-workers help to distribute those pressures out.
I was given the responsibility of customer service in the branch, where I served customers most often. This involved taking calls in order to handle customer queries and questions, whilst handling customers face to face. As part of my training I will be going on to deal with corporate accounts.
The primary skills I have been able to advance are my skills surrounding great customer service. Skills such as interpersonal skills and time efficiency were two of the most developed. This was due to Enterprise's standard of customer service requiring efficient and effective service for there customers, which was achieved by the training I received on and off the job. Training was often provided off the job where by was able to apply and develop the skills I have learnt. I aim to do this will the skills I have are learn are up to an excellent standard.
The Company
The office atmosphere was relaxed where co-workers are free to interact and converse with one another which made the time at Enterprise feel more welcoming and like a place I was free to expand my horizons with fellow peers. The atmosphere did feel very busy at sometimes, where there were a number of tasks to be completed in a very limited time with a number of pressures. However, due to the training provided, the experience was manageable.
The internship has been set very well with the initial start being one that was designed to ease there new employees in to there placements. For example, there was a weeks training before the service began in order to insure that all new starts we capable of their position, as well as shorter days for the first week so that employees will be are able to adapt to the time.
The primary training in the internship was a week in the head office going through procedure and learning what makes excellent service. Through out the time at Enterprise there are multiple observations and discussions both individual and with groups. This is to make points on what can be done to improve the service. There are a number of tasks assigned to ensure that the employee is progressing not just in service but in there future careers as well.
I have been made very interested in returning to Enterprise after my placement. I have decided to keep relations with Enterprise and proceed with being a campus manager so that I can promote Enterprise to my peers at University. I have Enterprise listed as a company I wish to return to for a placement in industry.
The Culture
A fellow placement student and I have had a great working relationship, where by we have been able to support one another and teach each other new skills and points of improvement. There has also been friendly competition to keep us on our toes to determine who is better at performance.
The area I live in is relatively low cost and I live with in walking distance so I do not have to travel far for the placement.
There are a number of restaurants and opportunities in the area to unwind and relax at the end of work. These places consist of clubs, restaurants, bars and cinemas etc.
There are number of opportunities with Enterprise to relax outside of work and bond with your peers. Such as a ten pin bowling day, to act as introduction to the company and to make you familiar with the staff that you will be working close with such as HR and management.
