The Role
I enjoyed the whole experience, as with all jobs, there were exciting days working on deals and other days doing less interesting work
I felt very valued and believed the colleagues trusted me.
I believe the support given to me was very well balanced, not too hands-on but guidance was given where needed
Generally very busy, but was not required to work on the weekend
I think lots of responsibility for an intern. Preparing own slides and building models.
Communication skills definitely will aid my studies, however my degree is much more technical than the skills used in the job.
The Company
Extremely friendly and open. Team feeling was evident and almost everyone was happy to answer questions. Non-shop talk also brought a lighter feel to the day.
The structure was generally very good, however there were two sets of events every week on the same day so that definitely broke the flow of the day
There was signifiant training in the first week. And part of the training involved going to Bloomberg offices for training and also general accounting and financial training.
Company Parties/Events
I would definitely consider working for the company again, however I would like to be continually challenged, with mundane work being the exception not the norm. However the people were the biggest appeal to the organisation, sociable, friendly and willing to help.
The Culture
There was definitely a social scene, however this was quickly organised outside the programme rather than specific social events.
For students the price of rent and socialising was generally high, but the salary earned more than compensated.
When I was not working, I preferred to have a few drinks and then rest up rather than going to nightclubs etc. However bars were always full on thursday/friday evenings.
Not many given the nature of the work, however I did hear of other interns doing rowing and watching sports matches.
