The Role
I really enjoyed the internship, it was a great opportunity to work at the cutting edge of science and in the charities sector, knowing that every piece of work I did was helping to beat cancer sooner!
I was definitely a valued member of the team.
I had a personal manager who gave me a huge variety of projects as well as guidance and support throughout the internship. I also had a personal mentor who helped with my personal development to ensure I got as much as I could out of the internship.
I was always busy with a variety of projects.
I had ownership of one large, ongoing project that will continue once I have left. I also fed into other people's projects.
The project management skills will be useful for my degree. All the skills will be very useful for working in the future, (for being in an office generally, and more specifically for working in a charity or for funding organisation).
The Company
The atmosphere was great because at the end of the day when CRUK employees reflect on their work their purpose is to beat cancer sooner and this is very motivating. People are also really friendly.
Very well organised, we had a lot of support from the manager in charge of the scheme throughout the internship providing us with personal development opportunities and workshops.
There were lots of workshops available, including some on CV/interview skills/presentation skills specifically for interns. My projects were tailored by my manager to suit the skills I wanted to develop and I attended any relevant workshops.

I'm very likely to apply for a job at CRUK, especially the Grad Scheme.
The Culture
Really good community, we met up a lot. An intern fundraising challenge brought us closer together as well and was good for personal development.
